Byzantium fight with Persian empire they had major influence in the region
- Islam was the cause of Christianity becoming the faith of Europe by 1500

- Dome of the Rock to the Jews it contained stone which Abraham prepared to offer his son
- To Christians it was a place that Jesus had visited as a youngster to converse with learned teachers and later drove out the money changers
- Christianity reappeared in the under the Mongols
- Islam conversion reduced Christian communities in North Africa
- In Egypt, Coptic religion was the majority and tolerated by Muslim rulers
- Ethiopian Christianity developed some of its most distinctive features
- One was a fascination with Judaism and Jerusalem
- Byzantine empire played a key role in the trade throughout Eurasia.
- The Islamic expansion reduced the size of the Byzantine state
